If you can’t imagine a summer without Camp Classen,

but also want to get out in the world – an 89er Adventure is for you.  Some adventure trips are inspired by the previous years campers, while other trips are so popular that we offer them every summer.  All of our teen adventure trips share elements of leadership and community.  Joining a trip gives you an opportunity to develop your leadership and be part of a community.  You will be encouraged to fully participate in the whole experience by cooking meals, setting up your campsites, and h

elping make community decisions (under the supervision of out skilled trip leaders).

The Colorado Excursion – 2-week session exploring the best of the Rocky Mountains.  You will explore the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, hike through the Garden of the Gods, Decend 1000 feet into a old Gold mine, get blown across the Great sand Dunes, attempt an optional ascent of a 14er, spend 2 days rafting Colorado whitewater, and a day of ziplining back and forth across a gorge.  If you’re into roughing it, sleeping under the stars, and spending 2 weeks in the high country - this trip is for you.

Rivers – This 2-week session combines the best of teen summer camp with awesome river adventures.  Teens start out at camp, where they split their time between teen camp fun, honing their adventure skills.  They will learn T-rescue skill on the lake, canoe and kayak the local Washita river, and practice overnight wilderness skills somehwere on camp's 2400 acres.  They will then depart for 3 days on the Current river on the Missouri / Arkansas border.   The Current river is known for it's beauty of clear water and rock cliffs.  Along the way Adventurers will camp on gravel bars on the river. They'll also return back to camp in time for paintball (if they're interested), the end of session dance, and closing campfire.
