70 Years and Counting
Summer camp is the heart of YMCA Camp Classen. Our first and foremost goal is to be the very best Christian co-ed residential summer camp in Oklahoma, in the Southwest, and everywhere else. We want every camper who leaves this place to say "it's my camp!" We have a dynamic program with many exciting land activities, water activities, plenty of horseback riding opportunities and amazing special events. We have special programs for 7-12 year olds, 13-15 year olds, and leadership development programs for 16-17 year olds. As part of the experience we spend time getting to know God through His Son Jesus Christ, making friendships and developing Godly character making camp more significant for both campers and staff.
At Camp Classen we continue to strive to understand how we can be usedby God to build healthy spirit, mind, and body for life. Summer camp is the heart of what we do hereat Classen. It is what we plan for andlook forward to throughout the whole year.The theme for 2012 is, “Living life as an ADVENTURE.” The theme verse is Psalm 25: 4-5, “Make meto know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teachme, for you are the God of my salvation.”An adventure is defined as an exciting or unusual experience; it mayalso be a bold, usually risky undertaking that most people do not attempt. It is only in adventure that many peoplesucceed in knowing themselves, in finding themselves, and in finding fullnessin life with God.

We start with a foundation in faith and fun filled Christian unity -"...that they may be one as we are one"-John17:22.
We then find the best possible staff who can combine judgement and enthusiasm, with leadership and role-modeling.
Then top it off with 2400 acres of the most incredible landscape Oklahoma (or Texas) has to offer. We pride ourselves in having the best programming and most exciting actvities of any camp in the nation. We spend the entire year getting ready for a summer that will be the most exciting of your life.
A little more about our staff
At YMCA Camp Classen your family will benefit from the seasoned experience of our professional staff. We select the best Christian role models to participate in the growth of your child’s spirit, mind and body. Our nurturing staff are the cornerstone of all great camp experiences. It is through their leadership, enthusiasm, good nature and judgment that friendships are formed, cabins come together, and kids go home having learned new and exciting skills. Prior to the camping season, staff go through an intense training period that includes certifications and safety training. Staff create an environment that helps each child be successful. Your child will live in a cabin with 7 to 11 other campers and 1 to 2 counselors. The overall ratio of staff to campers is 1 to 5. Campers will find staff engaged in every activity throughout their stay.
