Wrangler
Work at the barn and lead weekend trailrides
Program Team
Assist with general set up and tear down. Staff program areas and lead activities for weekend groups.
Driver
Drive the bus to and from the ranch and 89er Villiage to transport riders and hikers from Main Camp.
Summer Positions
Counselor (Great for Internships!)
Live in cabin and provide leadership for 8-12 campers for 1-2 week sessions throughout the summer. This person is responsible for health and safety of each camper and assigned activities. He/She is also responsible for developing unity and maintaining cohesiveness within the group. Counselors will also teach/assist in a program area and lead evening devotions. This position may require any of the following:
- Camp out trips with his/her group
- Assisting at the ranch with the Frontier Adventure program
- Lifeguard at the camp’s swimming areas
- Assistance with teen adventure trips
Counselors, who have not been through a CIT program, must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. Those who have been through the CIT program can start at age 17 or the summer following his/her CIT program.
Activity Coordinator (2) (Great for Internships!)
Responsible for planning and coordinating specific camp activities. He/She will supervise personnel and activities schedules and coordinate all inter camp activities. May have limited financial duties and be called to live with campers if the need arises. Must have completed 1 year of college and be at least 19 years old.
Waterfront Coordinator (1)
Responsible for safety of all waterfront activities. Conducts and documents regular in-service training for lifeguards. This administrator should be 21 years old, and hold current certifications in Life Guarding, CPR, Oxygen Management and First Aid. This position handles many of the administrative duties for camp outside of waterfront duties. It is recommended that this person have lakefront and supervisory experience. This person may live with campers.
Counselor In Training Coordinator (2) (Great for Internships!)
Responsible for leadership development among 16 & 17-year-old campers participating in the 3 Week Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program. Train campers to use their leadership skills in a camp setting, coordinate activities and supervise CITs during hands on experiences with 8-12 year old campers. Persons interested in this position should have skills in human relations, leadership abilities to work and live with more mature campers and the ability to coordinate and direct leadership programs. Will live with campers.
Lead Counselor (2)
Responsible for providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to counselors. Leads staff devotions. Addresses camper and staff discipline. Assists in staff training and camp programming. Serves as co-chaplain to lead meaningful daily chapel services. Responsible for creating an inviting, personal atmosphere for campers and staff to participate successfully in the Raggers/Leathers program. This person may cover cabin duties for counselors.
Office Support (1)
Responsible for assisting with any office needs. Coordinates record keeping for summer - staff, camp records, incident reports. Assists with opening and closing day activities, especially check-in and check-out. Coordinates camp store activity.
Camp Photographer/Videographer (2) (Great for Internships!)
Responsible to the Camp Directors for all aspects of camp photography and production of camp promotional materials. Computer/Internet skills are required. Ensures that pictures are being taken that present a safe, fun and friendly atmosphere at camp. Posts camp pictures on the Internet for parents and campers to view. Create weekly slideshow for campers and families to view on closing day of each session. Organizes photos to be used for promotional materials. This person may live with campers.
Camp Nurse (1 per week)
Responsible to the Camp Director for health and safety of all persons in camp. He/She will work with the camp director in setting up the infirmary, training staff in daily observances in health and first aid, and handle all medications given to campers and staff. The Nurse will maintain daily medications/First Aid records and will complete forms required by insurance companies and health departments. The clinic specialist must be a Registered Nurse, should be at least 21, able to adapt to outdoor living and is desired he/she participate in camp activities. RN with camp age children can serve as the Camp Nurse in exchange for camper fees. 1 week worked = 1 week of camper fees.
Clinic Specialist (1)
Reports to the Camp Nurse, he/she will serve as an assistant to the head nurse. He/She will work with the camp director in setting up the infirmary, training staff in daily observances in health and first aid, and handle all medications given to campers and staff. The Clinic Specialist will maintain daily medications/First Aid records and will complete forms required by insurance companies and health departments.. This person should be at least 21 years old, able to adapt to outdoor living and is desired he/she participate in camp activities. He/She should hold a certification as an EMT, RN, LVN, or other advanced first aid certification.
Trip Coordinator (2)
Responsible to the Director for leading various high adventure trips out of camp for 13-15 year olds and is responsible for coordinating all assigned trip schedules including departure and return dates, meals, staffing and transportation. This person should be at least 21 years old, hold a current, valid Driver’s License with an excellent driving record and current CPR, Lifeguarding, and Wilderness First Aid certifications. Tripping skills, supervisory skills, and experience with teenagers is a plus.
Wrangler (4)
Responsible for safe delivery of all equestrian activities. He/She is also responsible for the health and safety of the horses and maintaining equipment under the supervision of Equestrian Director. He/She will teach western style arena riding and lead trail rides for all campers and staff. Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) certificate is recommended, not required. The person may live with campers.
Wrangler-In-Training Coordinator (1)
Responsible for working and planning the WIT program with the Equestrian Director. They will work together as a team, training 16 and 17-year-old campers to use their leadership skills in a camp setting, teach barn safety, animal and tack care, and assign them to a hands on experience with 8-12 year old campers during trail rides and elective classes. Persons interested in this position should have skills in human relations, leadership abilities to work and live with more mature campers and the ability to coordinate and direct leadership programs. May live with campers. Must have extensive equine knowledge.
